One Day Workshop

A fun workshop to start and complete your Squarespace website in one cosy and motivated day.

£68 per place

Get a nice functional basic website (like this one) up and running for your project, creative hobby or small business idea in this one-day workshop.

I’m sharing my experience to get past the annoying bits of Squarespace web design and help you to enjoy the process - or at least get it done - in this collaborative workshop.

What you will get on the day:

Your website up and functioning (hurrah!) - with all the pages you need and desire

Time and quiet to focus on the content, either tweaking or creating it on the day
Positive support and encouragement from Delia and the group
Sound understanding of Squarespace and how to get extended help/ questions answered

What it will cover:

Building your pages from the streamlined designs

Basics of e-commerce pages and blogs
Connecting to a domain and email (eek!)
The 3 real learning pitfalls on Squarespace that are NOT intuitive and how to jump them (everything else is easy)
How to get the best out of the amazing Squarespace help centre (their team are crack hot and give detailed, clear friendly answers within 24 hours.)

Workshop format:

The workshop is delivered in person at The Mill Gallery, Leeds, or in a live online group for those further afield.
A small friendly group of up to six participants
Blended learning methodology with support before and after the workshop
Each person actively makes their website live within the workshop time, step by step
Laugh together and swap ideas and solutions within the group

Workshop FAQ :

Yes, you will need a laptop for this workshop (laptop or desktop for the online home version). Ideally you will also have a mouse as there is a lot of selecting and clicking, touchpads might get a bit annoying for you.
If you don’t have access to a laptop for the Leeds venue version, please reach out to me and I will see what I can do.
After the workshop Squarespace does have a convenient app you can use to edit your website but this will be a little too slow and fiddly for this workshop. We want to get this website built, oh yes we do. Up and through we go : )
In the Leeds venue workshop we have good Wifi so you won’t need data.
In the live online version, which you will do from your home, you will need to access your internet connection. If your Wifi is patchy this will inevitably effect your enjoyment and progress on your website. I don’t want you to be upset so can you do the workshop from a friend or neighbour’s house?
No, you can start one on the day. It is very easy.
No, you can select one on the day. Squarespace gives you a domain for free for the first year.
Oh yes, much of this workshop is time to focus and complete areas of your website. Also be a good space to ask questions and discuss why you got stuck. For me personally the stumbling blocks were my confidence, so if that’s why you also stalled then this workshop is perfect - we can all support each other.
Yes, if you have started a website on another platform you can just open that up and copy it across. You don’t want to waste all that effort and brain cells.

Extra support starting one week before and lasting for three weeks after for any questions or opinions
Big cheers from the group when you hit the “live” button!!! Then a sigh of relief, and the question: “What’s next now I have a cool website?”
